Use of Stretcher Frames and Canvas Stretcher

Canvas stretcher is a must have for an artist. You can easily save a lot of money by going for a custom canvas stretcher. Many artists tend to go as economical as possible by designing a good quality canvas stretcher. Designing such canvases is a great idea if you are making large canvas or going for a specific shaped stretcher which is not available in the art stores. Designing a canvas stretcher is not only an affordable option for artists but also a better one. However, whether the canvas stretcher is homemade or purchased, they need special care. Always encase them in safe covering, especially in the corners. This has a deep impact on how your canvas turns out to be after the process of stretching.

Stretcher frames are more or less like the regular artwork frames, crafted out of wood. But, this is the only similarity between the two. The stretcher frames are used as a framework on which an artwork canvas is placed and attached. It is used to get the art canvas in the right posture and tight. Afterwards, the canvas is ready to put in the frame of your selection or can simply be hung casually without any frame. These frames allow the tightening of the canvas. They also permit fixation of the canvas. Once the canvas gets attached, it is given its final tightening. These stretcher frames are available in several sizes ranging from small to huge sizes used in various art galleries for all sorts of work of art.
